What a week we’ve had in the DTS! This week we had our old friend Kenny Peavy come and speak on the Holy Spirit.
Throughout the school we’ve been spending hours and hours each week in worship and prayer, and we shared with Kenny, before the week began, that it felt like there was something really brewing, spiritually speaking. This week, it seemed that every time we got together for teaching, worship or prayer, everyone in the room had an encounter with God. The demeanour of many of the students changed dramatically in just a few short days, as they encountered God, and were able to let go of so many fears, past hurts, false identities, and so much more, while embracing His amazing love. In one meeting with the entire community, we had 16 people recommit their lives to Christ. It seems we have the beginnings of a revival happening. We find outselves so excited about just being a pat of it!
Many of the students began to get new understanding of their identities, gifts, and how the fit into the body, and also a new desire for intimacy with God. Some of the students and staff expressed interest in being baptized. This morning we all headed down to the beach had a time of worship, and testimonies, and 5 were baptized. It was a beautiful sunny day, with some of the biggest waves we’ve ever seen. One of our staff requested Gemma to baptize her, along with our base leader, Tym. The water was very cold, but Gemma was honored to do it.
After the baptism, we had a few surfers who had come down from San Diego for the swell, who saw what we were doing. They’re Christians, and they asked if they could be baptized too. Amazing!
Everyone is looking forward to next week with great expectation. We’re wondering what God has in store for us.
